Shot Notes
This picture was taken as part of workshop on flash photography with Neil Van Neikerk. Neil is a portrait and wedding photographer based out of NJ. He was giving a workshop in Portland, so I jumped at the chance to learn something new from someone who is a master at using an on-camera flash to achieve some very nice results. I was mostly interested in approaching the workshop from a technical standpoint, and then at some point during the day I thought it might be worth it to actually try to get a good shot. I thought this one turned out pretty good, among others. What I like about it is that I bounced the flash off the wall of the building that I was standing next to, and was surprised to see how nicely it worked. It’s all about the bounce factor, I learned.
